6. The Feeling of Sound
Jazz in the street
Sweetheart feel the beat
I’m on a cloud with
my worst nightmare
And no more my heart can bear
Get me out of the silver night
And give me a harmful fright
Joy and kindness falls
when it starts
Hope and charity fills my heart
Smooth and easy
Soft and breezy
This is the way I found
To show the feeling of sound

7. My Home
My home is as bright as a moon
Is purple as a princess
I like my room because it’s pretty
My home sounds like my sister
It smells like strawberries

8. Are You Ready Now?
I used to be open minded by fairy tales and
big clear diamonds
But now I see my mind is free, not blinded
The world used to be a fairy tale to me
But now the world is somewhat tricky I see!
I used to be a lifeless bore; when I was
talking, they would snore
But now I am a fierce tiger
Hear my loud roar!
Bam Bam! Turn up the jam!
We’re gonna rock this Poetry Slam!
What’s the dealio?
Wow wow! Oh wow!
You ready for Wildcats to rock the house?
Where’s the rock n’ roll?
Crazy fighter! Instant writer!
Why so shyyyy?
So get loud if you are ready
for Johnson Wildcats!
Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!
We will never be, NEVER BE anything but proud
In all the right ways.
Get up out your seat. Are you ready?

9. Exploring the World
(note, this poem has been chosen by the maximum 3 artists
and is no longer available for selection).
Exploring the world we saw puddles of dancing feet
A lot of family eating fish and meat
We saw a big basket of exploding stars
Getting run over by leaving cars
Exploring the world was very fun
I wish the world was more than one

10. Dream Wide Awake
When I sleep
I get nightmares
I get freaked out
I hope it doesn’t happen again.
I think I know why I get nightmares.
I’m a prankster! I’m a monster!
What’s gotten into me?
I see their faces and I don’t
see a smile
Instead, I see ugly monsters.
These are my nightmares.
But when I wake up I am going
to Harvard school.
I am going to be a better person.
My self-esteem is not just a dream.
The rough edges that are me
will smooth out you’ll see.
People will talk about what a good man I am
Whether I’m playing on
the soccer field
or making business deals.
So I don’t plan to take a break.
I’ll study, stick-to-it
and dream wide awake.

All the poems are so very heartfelt and wonderful that I am finding it difficult to use just one for artistic interpretation. America Scores, thank you for allowing these children an access to their very unique visions. I am awe struck by their words.
